The course is suitable for those who are interested in a career in tourism and who already have studies in secondary education, or similar, as the course duration is estimated to be 1 year less than the standard vocational degree in tourism studies.

Study information

Starts in January 2021.

Estimated duration of study: 2 years.

You will study in different study environments - in the classroom, using e-learning environments, and in different projects and work placements.

Application information

The application period is open from 15.10.2020 to 13.11.2020.

Language requirements are fluent English and basic Finnish.

The first priority is given to applicants who are permanently living in Finland.

The final selection of students will be chosen through personal interviews which will be held from the 23rd of November to the 4th of December. Those who will be invited to the interview will receive a notice by email.

Study Program

The objective of the study program is that the student will be able to work as a receptionist or tourism activities organizer in the tourism industry in Finland and abroad. As the tourism industry is looking forward to recovering, the emphasis throughout the program will be on responsible and sustainable tourism practices, e-tourism, and safety practices.

Employment

Qualified receptionists will work in hotels and other tourist accommodation establishments.

Qualified tourism activities organizer will work in companies and organizations of tourism resorts and regions, tourism service businesses, hotels, or agritourism companies.

Cost of study

Education in Vantaa Vocational College Varia is free of charge and so is a daily lunch. There can be small amounts to be paid for study materials and local study trips (estimate maximum 100 euros).

Further studies

Vocational qualification in Tourism Industry enables the graduates to apply for further studies at the university of applied sciences or at the university.
