The International Baccalaureate Organization IBO provides a lot of information about the IB-programme; for instance about the structure of the programme and the six subjects that are studied. Since this is an international programme, the requirements are the same everywhere.
IB in Finland
IB Diploma corresponds to the national matriculation examination (ylioppilastutkinto) and qualifies for the universities in Finland and abroad. The subject selection varies from school to school. Please see the subjects we offer under IB in Tikkurilan lukio.
In addition to the two-year IB course, the students also have a so-called Pre-IB year in Finland. During this year they prepare for the IB by improving their study skills as well as their language skills: Almost all the subjects are taught in English but mainly according to the Finnish national curriculum for the first year of the upper secondary school. Time and schedules permitting, it is possible to continue these courses during the IB.
