The student welfare staff work at schools and their task is to support the wellbeing of both the school community as a whole as well as of the individual students.
CWT is a community welfare team that consists of the principal or the assistant principal, special education teacher, student counselor (for junior high), school social worker, school psychologist and school nurse. The CWT coordinates, develops and assesses the school's student welfare work. Every year, the CWT monitors e.g. the classroom atmosphere by using class-specific questionnaires.
A multidisciplinary team can be gathered for matters regarding individual students and planning their support measures. This group always includes the student’s guardians. Students’ affairs are handled in strong cooperation between the student, guardians and the school staff. Students’ wishes and opinions are always taken into consideration. The work of this group is always confidential.
Every year, the school makes a student welfare plan to improve and promote the wellbeing of the school community, the implementation of which is assessed at the end of the school year. During this assessment, students and parents are consulted in order to further develop activities.
Student welfare staff can be easily reached through Wilma, email and also by telephone.
